Norsk Fjordhestsenter

Norsk Fjordhestsenter is Norway’s national competence centre for the fjord horse, the country’s national symbol. The centre provides information and advice about this native breed, with a central mission to promote fjord horse breeding and use. Based in Nordfjordeid, it brings together equestrian activities, horse care, breeding services and learning opportunities.

Its offerings include riding lessons and development programmes for riders, as well as activities and events. The centre also provides riding-hall access, hall cards and rental, alongside stabling and short-term boarding. Its breeding services include stallion presentations, information about breeding stallions, a semen station and related services and prices. A stable-based after-school programme introduces children in grades four to seven to horse care and riding.

The centre’s team includes riding instructors, breeding advisers and horse-care staff. Norsk Fjordhestsenter also works to improve the sustainability of its operations and animal welfare. It has replaced its lighting with LEDs and is developing improved manure management in collaboration with NIBIO and NORSØK, using bedding that supports composting.
