North Cascades Tai Chi

North Cascades Tai Chi is a martial arts school serving Skagit County communities in Washington, including Mount Vernon, Anacortes, La Conner, Burlington, and Sedro-Woolley. The school teaches Traditional Family Sun, Traditional Yang, and Wu Hao styles of Taijiquan, and also offers karate. Its instruction presents tai chi as both a movement practice for health and a traditional internal martial art, helping students understand the purpose and applications behind each form movement.

Classes emphasize relaxation, sound body structure, fluid movement, and coordination of mind and body. Students can learn at their own pace, with options to explore partner practice such as tuishou, or push hands, and traditional weapons including the straight sword and broad sword. These advanced elements are optional, while push-hands practice is encouraged as a way to deepen understanding of the solo forms. The school welcomes adults at different experience levels and offers a practice that can be adjusted to individual goals.
