The North Country Underground Railroad Historical Association (NCUGRHA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and promoting the history of the Underground Railroad in northeastern New York's Waterways to Freedom. Established in 2005, NCUGRHA conducts research, exhibits, and preservation of historic sites related to the Underground Railroad. Our mission is to inspire all people to rise above their differences and celebrate the importance of freedom to the survival of the human spirit.
Through dramatic readings, lectures, and presentations, we educate schools, colleges, and the general public about the courageous abolitionists and freedom seekers who navigated the Champlain Line of the Underground Railroad. The association has a board of trustees, led by President Jacqueline Madison and 1st Vice-President John Mitchell. Our activities include research, instructional materials, media presentations, and dramatic readings and displays.
We also have a museum gift shop and virtual museum, as well as organize events and maintain a calendar of past and upcoming events. Join us in supporting the NCUGRHA's vital mission to preserve and promote this significant part of American history
