North Eastern Meccano

The North Eastern Meccano Society (NEMS) is a vibrant community dedicated to the nostalgia and creativity of Meccano model building, established in 1975 by Frank Beadle. Originating from a small advertisement inviting enthusiasts to join, NEMS has since gained recognition for its engaging exhibitions and modeling events. They hold an annual exhibition in Darlington, showcasing an impressive array of meticulously crafted models, which have attracted local media attention over the years.

NEMS also offers its members a quarterly magazine, serving as a vital communication tool that keeps them informed and connected while promoting the Meccano hobby. Additionally, the society is committed to community service, raising funds for the Great North Air Ambulance through various events. From model displays and competitions to a rich history documented in their archives, NEMS fosters a welcoming environment for both seasoned builders and newcomers alike.
