North East Recovery Community (NERC) is a peer-led charity based in Bridgeton, Glasgow, supporting people affected by alcohol and drug addiction. Guided by the belief that “Together We Recover,” the organisation aims to promote recovery through welcoming, practical and emotional support. Its team includes volunteers with lived experience of recovery, helping create an inclusive community for individuals and their families.
NERC operates recovery cafes across north-east Glasgow, including JARC, SPARC, PARC, RENEW and NERD. These cafes offer safe, confidential spaces where people can seek advice, connect with others and access support. The charity also runs a community running group, an arts and crafts group, and online meditation sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings.
At its recovery hub at 20 Broad Street, NERC helps visitors learn about available services. Recovery outreach workers provide guidance and support to people seeking help, with self-referrals accepted and referrals also possible through other agencies. NERC further invites community members to get involved through volunteering and donations, extending peer support across the area.
