North of Normal

North of Normal is an Iceland-based destination management company creating tailor-made private journeys for travelers seeking experiences beyond the expected. Formerly known as Eskimos Iceland, the company has planned travel in Iceland for travel advisors, discerning travel companies and their guests since 2000. Each itinerary is designed from scratch around the individual traveler, drawing on close relationships with hotels, lodges, chefs, pilots and private guides. Its journeys combine celebrated destinations with lesser-known places and personal encounters, offering an intimate way to experience Iceland’s landscapes and communities.

North of Normal also emphasizes responsible, slower travel. It plans fewer stops and longer stays, and works with family-run farms, local guides and small producers so travel spending supports local communities. The company holds the highest level of Vakinn, Iceland’s official quality and environmental certification, and says it continues to raise its standards. It also works to make Iceland accessible to a wider range of visitors. North of Normal provides bespoke trip planning and on-the-ground travel experiences for private clients through travel advisors.
