NorthStar Care is a virtual, physician-led provider of treatment for alcohol and substance use disorders. Its year-long program approaches addiction as a medical condition and combines evidence-based care with treatment tailored to each person’s biology, circumstances, and goals. Services include genetic testing to help guide medication and care decisions, medication management, targeted nutrient therapy, health monitoring, therapy, tapering support, and anonymous virtual peer groups using VR technology.

Each participant is supported by a coordinated, nine-person team that may include a supervising physician, advanced practice clinician, psychiatric nurse practitioner, therapist, nurses, peer guides, and a care navigator. The team works together throughout the program and adjusts care as needs change. Treatment takes place at home, with a kit that can include DNA testing, monitoring devices, nutrients, and a VR headset. NorthStar offers confidential introductory conversations and supports patients in considering goals such as abstinence or moderation with clinical guidance. Its model is designed to provide sustained support without requiring facility stays or major disruption to daily life.
