About Tanyptera Project
North West Invertebrates is the official platform for 'The Tanyptera Project,' established in 2017 with the support of the Tanyptera Trust. Focused on the conservation and study of invertebrates in North West England, particularly the regions of Lancashire and Cheshire, the initiative aims to enhance public understanding and involvement in entomology. The project provides valuable resources and opportunities, including workshops, webinars, and collection days designed to improve the skills of invertebrate recorders and enhance data accessibility regarding these vital species.
By promoting various local initiatives, including grants and collaborative projects with entomological societies, North West Invertebrates seeks to raise awareness about rare and threatened invertebrate species and their habitats. Their efforts contribute to the conservation management of these species while fostering an engaged community of wildlife enthusiasts. The website also features educational materials and publications to inspire further study and appreciation of the region's diverse invertebrate life, ensuring that these essential creatures receive the recognition they deserve.
