About Northwest Sailing
Northwest Sailing Centers provides American Sailing Association (ASA) sailing instruction in Seattle and Kirkland, serving learners on Puget Sound and Lake Washington. Its structured courses take students from introductory keelboat skills to advanced coastal and offshore sailing, with options including ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing, ASA 102, coastal and bareboat cruising, coastal navigation, advanced coastal cruising, offshore passagemaking, dinghy and outboard, and docking endorsements. The curriculum covers sailing terminology, boat systems, sail trim, helm commands, seamanship, navigation rules, and safe operation.
After ASA 101, students are prepared to skipper a 20- to 27-foot sloop-rigged keelboat in daylight and light to moderate conditions, including winds up to 15 knots. The center also offers American Boating powerboat courses at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. Instructors are ASA certified and hold USCG Captainβs licenses.
Beyond lessons, membership provides access to a fleet at locations including Carillon Point Marina and Elliott Bay Marina, with reciprocity through Island Sailing Club in Portland
