Northwoods Wildlife

Northwoods Wildlife Center is a wildlife rescue, rehabilitation, education, and research organization based in Minocqua, Wisconsin. Established in 1979, it serves Northern Wisconsin and works to build a future where people and wildlife thrive together. The center rescues, cares for, and rehabilitates injured, orphaned, or otherwise at-risk wild animals, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild when possible. Its team helps approximately 600 to 700 animals each year and provides guidance to people who encounter wildlife in need.

Education is another core part of the center’s work. Its educators offer engaging programs for schools, community centers, lake associations, and other groups, sometimes featuring wildlife ambassador animals. The organization reaches more than 10,000 people annually with information about wildlife, the environment, and the Northwoods ecosystem. Visitors can also attend public wildlife and raptor tours, which begin in May and run Tuesday through Saturday. Community members can support the center through donations, memberships, volunteering, sponsorships, and purchases from its shop.
