About The Norway-Japan Society・日本ノルウェー協会
The Norway-Japan Society (NJS) is an organization that aims to foster cultural exchange, mutual understanding, and friendship between Norway and Japan. One of the highlights of NJS is their singing group, which was established in 2008 upon the proposal by MR. & Mrs.
Masaki Seo, the President of NJS at that time. The group gathers at the Aurora Hall of the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Hiroo twice a month to sing beautiful songs by renowned Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, as well as well-known Japanese songs by Japanese composers. To participate in the singing group, you are kindly requested to become a member of the NJS.
As a member, you will have the opportunity to perform at the NJS New Year's Party in mid-January and at the NJS General Meeting in late May. Additionally, the group occasionally organizes lunch or dinner gatherings for members to socialize. The annual membership fee for a regular member is ¥30,000, payable also for each half year as ¥15,000.
Student members are required to pay ¥5,000 annually, payable as ¥2,500 for each half year. Temporary absent members have the option to pay ¥5,000 annually, which is also payable as ¥2,500 for each half year. Join the NJS Singing Group and immerse yourself in the joy of singing while building lasting connections with Norwegians and the vibrant Tokyo community.
For more information on how to join, kindly contact (Mr. ) Isao Watanabe, the Representative of the Singing Group and NJS Board Member, at isaow@me. com
