Not Another Vet Nurse, Inc. (NAVN) is a dedicated organization founded by licensed technician Shena Humbert on February 18, 2019. Established initially on Instagram as a response to her own challenges in veterinary medicine, NAVN aims to support veterinary professionals experiencing burnout, mental health struggles, and feelings of unappreciation. The platform fosters a supportive community through a private Facebook group, where members can share their experiences and seek solace in a judgement-free environment.

NAVN also places a strong emphasis on mental health awareness and suicide prevention within the veterinary field. In remembrance of individuals who have tragically lost their lives, such as Shena’s high school friend Cenea Smith-Boykin, the organization advocates for improved mental health and promotes financial assistance for therapy services. As a 501(c)(3) public charity, NAVN is committed to empowering veterinary professionals, helping them recognize their value while striving to reduce the alarming rates of mental health issues and suicide in the industry.
