Novel EcologicalWe

Novel Ecological is an environmental consulting practice focused on creating climate-adapted landscapes and helping infrastructure and land-management projects respond to changing ecological conditions. The team combines technical ecological expertise and innovation to reduce the environmental footprint of development and provide informed advice, supported by data-sharing platforms and remote sensing.

Its services include environmental compliance and impact assessments, evaluation of significant residual impacts, and integrated weed management and site restoration. Novel Ecological conducts environmental monitoring and research to track changes in ecosystem processes, and manages carbon and environmental offset projects from planning through delivery. Its work also includes terrestrial habitat quality assessments, threatened-species recovery planning that considers climate refugia, and surveys for protected plants and animal breeding places in line with Queensland guidelines.

For landholders and planners, the practice offers property planning and regional ecosystem assessments based on field verification of vegetation, weeds, wetlands and groundwater-dependent ecosystems. It also provides environmental education, guided bushwalks and workshops across south east Queensland.
