Established in 2017, novel was born out of the community's desire to preserve the tradition of independent bookselling after the closure of The Booksellers at Laurelwood. Despite lacking prior bookselling experience, a group of local investors recognized the importance of having an indie bookstore in their city and decided to invest in the venture. Working closely with the team at Laurelwood Shopping Center, they were able to open the doors of novel within just three months.
With a core group of experienced staff and a commitment to the community, novel quickly became a beloved local establishment. As the first locally owned and operated bookstore in this location, novel is dedicated to enriching the Memphis community through literature and fostering engagement with its readers. Whether you are searching for bestsellers, new releases, books for kids and teens, or even personalized recommendations, novel is your go-to place for all your literary needs
