The National Records and Archives Authority of Oman preserves and shares the country’s documentary heritage while supporting the effective management of public records. Its work brings together historical archives, library resources, current and intermediate records, and electronic document management. The Authority provides services and information for researchers, students, government entities, and other interested visitors, including access to archival materials, a digital library, and the Thakira platform for external services. It also publishes books and research on Omani history, regions, and cultural connections, helping make historical scholarship available to a wider audience.

Visitors can explore the permanent exhibition of national documents and archives, which presents Oman’s history through manuscripts, maps, coins, stamps, photographs, films, and other records. The Authority offers exhibition visits and shares news, open data, and opportunities for community participation, including feedback on its archive search experience. Through preservation, research, publications, exhibitions, and records-management guidance, it works to protect Oman’s documentary legacy and connect people with the stories and evidence held within it.
