About ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes
ICAR-National Research Centre for Grapes (NRCG) is a premier institute of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, based at Manjari Farm in Pune, Maharashtra. Its mission is to promote and strengthen grape research in India, supporting the development of knowledge, technologies and practical guidance for the viticulture sector. The centre conducts research, develops grape varieties and technologies, and shares findings through publications, extension resources, videos and regular advisories for farmers.
It also offers training in viticulture, consultancy, analytical services and proficiency-testing programmes. Its facilities include a National Referral Laboratory approved by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India for analysing pesticide residues and mycotoxins in food matrices. NRCG provides laboratory services and information on agrochemicals monitored for grapes, alongside resources on grape farming and agricultural operations.
The institute also supports innovation through its Agri-Business Incubation Centre and technology-management activities. Products highlighted by the centre include Manjari Medika grapes, grape juice, cookies made from grape pomace and anthocyanin capsules made from the grapes
