The National Resource Center on Native American Aging (NRCNAA) works to improve quality of life for Native Elders through research, training, and technical assistance. A project of the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota’s School of Medicine & Health Sciences, the center identifies emerging health and social concerns and helps raise awareness of them. It is supported by a cooperative agreement with the Administration for Community Living, within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
NRCNAA provides needs assessment surveys for tribal communities and urban Native populations, gathering information to support planning, decision-making, advocacy, grant applications, and health equity efforts. Its Resource Center on Native Aging and Disability helps tribal communities and organizations develop sustainable support programs for Elders and adults with disabilities. Other offerings include a caregiver curriculum and the Native Aging in Place Project, resources for people caring for Native Elders at home, and the WELL Balanced Program, which combines exercise, information, and social interaction.
