About Peacebuilding and Conflict Management
Brand: National Steering Committee on Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC)
Description:
The National Steering Committee on Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NSC) is a multi-agency organization dedicated to promoting sustainable peace in Kenya. With a collaborative institutional framework involving state, non-state actors, and communities at the national and regional level, the NSC aims to address the threats and challenges to national unity that the country has faced.
The NSC was established by the Government of Kenya in 2001 to mobilize, coordinate, and consolidate peace-building initiatives into a cohesive and action-oriented mechanism. By incorporating traditional justice resolution mechanisms and partnering with civil society organizations, the NSC seeks to foster conflict sensitivity to development, recognizing that a peaceful and secure society is essential for sustainable progress.
The NSC's core values center around national unity, respect for the rule of law, human rights, and conflict sensitivity. Its functions include conflict analysis, early warning, capacity-building, coordination of peace-building interventions, and maintenance of a resource center for peace-related information.
Contact the NSC at [email protected] or +254-20-343462/8 for more information or to contribute to the public platform for peace-building efforts.
