NUGC

Northumberland Union of Golf Clubs (NUGC) is the governing body for men’s amateur golf in Northumberland. Established in 1907 and affiliated with England Golf, it supports local clubs, golfers and emerging talent across the county. Its work includes administering county championships and team competitions, providing coaching programmes, measuring courses and managing slope ratings for member clubs. The union also serves as a local authority on the R&A Rules of Golf and handicapping.

NUGC organises a varied calendar of competitions and publishes fixtures, results and news for men’s, seniors’ and junior golf. Junior events are available for players from under 12 to under 18, while seniors can access dedicated competitions and information. The union also shares details about affiliated clubs, past champions, policies and rules, and offers a County Card resource. Its member network includes golf clubs across Northumberland, from Alnmouth and Bamburgh to Goswick and Seahouses. Through competition, administration and support for its affiliated clubs, NUGC helps foster amateur golf throughout the region.
