About NUSI ITF
NUSI / ITF Trust is a welfare initiative established in 2001 by the National Union of Seafarers of India and the International Transport Workers’ Federation. Registered as a public charitable institution, it supports Indian seafarers and their families through practical assistance, education, counselling, and career development. Its welfare schemes include financial help for medical treatment, support for seafarers’ widows, scholarships and education grants for children pursuing higher or overseas studies, and a counselling helpline for seafarers and families. The Trust also provides skill enhancement programs at no cost.
Its training facilities include NUSI Maritime Academy in Goa, the NUSI Offshore Training Institute in Panvel, and the Mohamed Ebrahim Serang Centre, which offer maritime courses for aspiring and working seafarers. Programs cover pre-sea preparation, deck and engine skills, offshore vessel operations, dynamic positioning, emergency response, crane operations, and simulation training. The Trust also operates a holiday home in Lonavala for seafarers and their families, with comfortable accommodation and indoor recreation.
