NUXRAD

NUXRAD is an independent weather radar app for exploring live and archived storm data in detail. It decodes NOAA NEXRAD Level II volume scans directly, displaying full-resolution reflectivity, velocity, dual-polarization and rotation products, along with 3D storm views and vertical cross sections. Users can examine scans from more than 160 US radars, move through individual elevation angles, and compare multiple products in synchronized panes.

The app also provides live National Weather Service warnings, observations and outlooks, with alert text, filters and optional sounds. Its archive tools let users browse radar data by site and date or replay notable tornado outbreaks and hailstorms. NUXRAD supports importing radar files in formats including Level II, Level III, DORADE, CfRadial, ODIM HDF5, IRIS and UF, as well as adding Level 2 polling servers for other radar feeds.

Available for Windows, macOS and Linux, NUXRAD can also be used in a web browser. Account settings, layouts and color tables sync across platforms. Android and iOS apps are in development.
