Women's Council Ireland (NWCI) is a renowned organization that has been empowering women for the last 50 years. Since its foundation in 1973, NWCI has played a vital role in transforming the landscape for women in Ireland. Today, the country is unrecognizable from what it was back then, thanks to the efforts of NWCI and women's organizations across the nation.

NWCI has been instrumental in achieving significant milestones for women's rights. They fought for and succeeded in lifting the marriage bar and criminalizing marital rape, as well as securing access to contraception, divorce, abortion, and equal marriage. NWCI recognizes that feminism is an intersectional movement, led by migrant women, LGBTQ+ women, and Traveller women.

Despite their accomplishments, NWCI acknowledges that there is still much work to be done to achieve true equality. They continue to advocate for improved access to contraception and abortion, comprehensive sex education in schools, and an end to violence against women. NWCI champions the rights of women in all aspects of society, including the right to have children without fear of financial repercussions, freedom from sexual violence and exploitation, and recognition and fair compensation for their contributions through care work.
