About Northwest Maritime
The Northwest Maritime Center, located in Port Townsend, WA, is a non-profit organization that utilizes the power of maritime experiences to educate, inspire, and celebrate our rich maritime culture. Offering a wide range of products and services, they provide opportunities for people to learn and explore the maritime world. Their events and classes cater to both adults and youth, offering maritime classes, sailing lessons, and summer camps.
Whether you're a beginner or an experienced sailor, their experienced instructors and beautiful waterfront location make their programs some of the best in the region. The center is known for hosting the renowned Wooden Boat Festival, the second largest of its kind in the world. With 300 boats on land and water, over 100 presentations, live music, and local food and wine, this festival is a must-attend event.
Additionally, they organize unique events like the Race to Alaska, where participants row, paddle, or sail 750 miles without the help of an engine, and SEVENTY48, a 70-mile human-powered challenge from Tacoma to Port Townsend. By becoming a member, you not only support the center's mission but also gain special benefits, including free admission to the Wooden Boat Festival. Experience the magic of the sea and join the Northwest Maritime Center in their mission to educate and inspire through powerful maritime experiences
