Night of the Living Cat is an official anime project based on the manga by Hawkman and Mecha-Roots, serialized in Monthly Comic Garden and Mag Comi. Set in a world overwhelmed by a cat-transformation outbreak, the series follows people trying to survive while resisting the irresistible urge to touch cats. The production presents the story as a comic, high-energy survival adventure that blends suspense with affectionate humor and a deep love of cats.
The television anime is directed by Tomohiro Kamitani, with Takashi Miike serving as chief director, and animated by OLM. Sony Pictures Entertainment and Slow Curve handle planning and production, alongside the NyaIribi Production Committee. The official site features episode information, character and cast profiles, staff comments, music, videos, and a cat guide. It also highlights related releases and merchandise, including Blu-ray, games, books, and goods. News on the site includes promotional collaborations, streaming appearances, and a partnership with Dead by Daylight, connecting the anime with audiences through entertainment and collectible offerings.
