About NY Assembly Majority
The New York State Assembly is the state’s legislative chamber and a public institution serving residents through lawmaking, oversight, and community engagement. Established in 1777, it describes itself as the “People’s House” and works on legislation and reforms affecting New Yorkers. The Assembly is led by Speaker Carl E. Heastie, whose office shares updates on legislative priorities and statewide initiatives.
The Assembly’s website provides information and services for the public, including member profiles, tools to identify a local Assemblymember, bill searches, legislative records, committee information, and details about public hearings and Assembly proceedings. Visitors can follow recent news, review grants-related announcements, and find calendars for hearings, committee meetings, press conferences, and other events. The site also offers access to Assembly rules, reports, legislative dates, public information contacts, and live coverage of proceedings. Additional resources include internship and career opportunities, minority communications, maps and directions, and ways to request information. Through these services, the Assembly connects residents with their representatives and makes legislative activity and public participation more accessible.
