About New York City Fire Museum
The New York City Fire Museum is dedicated to collecting, preserving, and presenting the rich history and cultural heritage of the fire service in New York. With a mission to provide fire prevention and safety education to the public, especially children, this museum offers a valuable educational experience. The museum's exhibits illustrate the evolution of firefighting, from the early bucket brigades of New Amsterdam to the modern techniques and equipment used today.
Visitors can explore a special memorial honoring the 343 members of the FDNY who sacrificed their lives on 9/11, as well as artifacts recovered from the World Trade Center site. In addition, the museum offers interactive experiences, including a video room and a simulated apartment with smoke machines and black-lighted fire hazards for fire education programs. With retired FDNY firefighters volunteering to share their stories, the New York City Fire Museum offers a unique and informative visit for visitors from all over the world
