**NYS Mesonet** is a premier environmental monitoring network established in April 2014 through a collaboration between the State of New York and the University at Albany. This innovative system features 127 strategically located weather stations across every county and borough in New York, ensuring comprehensive coverage. Each station measures critical environmental parameters, including temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, solar radiation, snow depth, and soil conditions.

In addition to the main network, the NYS Mesonet includes specialized sub-networks such as a Profiler Network with 17 sites for vertical atmospheric data, a Flux Network that monitors surface energy budgets at 17 locations, and a Snow Network consisting of 20 stations dedicated to measuring snow water content. The University at Albany operates the Mesonet, which collects and processes real-time data every five minutes, enhancing weather prediction models and providing pivotal support for various applications, including transportation and fire weather management.
