Narrenzunft Altenburg e.V. is a local carnival association dedicated to preserving and celebrating the traditions of Altenburg Fasnacht. Through its website, the organisation shares information about its history, activities, events and distinctive carnival characters. The guild has 78 active members, including 20 young Schnörris, and participates in community celebrations throughout the carnival season.
Its traditional figures include the Schnörri, introduced in 1967; the Löhrmarianneli, inspired by a local legend; the Zunftgesellen, also known as the Blau-Gelbe; and the Narrenpolizist, who upholds carnival customs. The Jungschnörris form the youth group, whose activities include a children’s carnival ball. The association also hosts events such as the Zunftabend, Schnörriobed and street carnival, and publishes a carnival newspaper that invites contributions about humorous local mishaps.
Music at Altenburg Fasnacht is supported by the Guggenmusik Döbeli Röhrer Altenburg. Narrenzunft Altenburg is a member of Narrenvereinigung Kleggau e.V.
