The New Zealand Organisms Register (NZOR) is a vital digital resource that compiles and maintains an authoritative list of organism names relevant to New Zealand, encompassing indigenous, endemic, and exotic species. Managed by Manaaki Whenua Landcare Research, NZOR aims to create a comprehensive, continuously updated catalog of over 100,000 names essential for biodiversity management, conservation, and biosecurity in the nation.

With support from various government agencies, including the Department of Conservation and the Ministry for Primary Industries, NZOR serves as a central repository that standardizes the naming of organisms, providing valuable details such as synonyms, common and Māori names, and documented presence or absence in New Zealand.
