About NZSAP
The New Zealand Society of Animal Production (NZSAP) stands as a pivotal institution in animal agriculture, dedicated to advancing research and knowledge surrounding farmed animals, including sheep, cattle, dairy, deer, and goats. Established over 80 years ago, NZSAP serves as a key platform for researchers and professionals to share and disseminate vital findings in animal sciences. The Society publishes the New Zealand Journal of Animal Science and Production, featuring open access to ongoing research and historical proceedings.
NZSAP also organizes annual conferences, bringing together prominent figures in the field to discuss contemporary themes and innovations. The upcoming conference, scheduled for November 2025, in Hamilton, highlights the collaboration with the New Zealand Grasslands and Agronomy Societies. Additionally, NZSAP offers awards such as the McMeekan Memorial Award and the Sir Arthur Ward Award, recognizing excellence and contributions to animal science. Through memberships and access to resources, NZSAP fosters a community committed to improving agricultural practices and addressing future market needs.
