About 東藝館 Oriental Art & Cultural Center
Oriental Art & Cultural Center (OACC) is a non-profit art space in Kuala Lumpur dedicated to enriching people's lives through art. Founded in 2010 under the Elken Foundation, OACC aims to encourage the understanding and appreciation of Malaysian arts and culture. As a community platform, OACC provides a space for artistic dialogues, open discussions, and showcases outstanding art pieces by artists from all disciplines.
They prioritize up-and-coming local young artists, nurturing their progression and providing them with exposure within the multicultural context of Malaysian society. In addition, OACC recognizes the importance of education in nurturing the Malaysian arts and culture scene. Through their Community Outreach Programme, called Seed Project, they provide art education to kids in rural areas.
This project has expanded to 10 primary schools, spanning Malaysia, Thailand, and China, attracting the support of volunteers. With a 3-storey building occupying approximately 15,000 sq ft, OACC houses art galleries, art spaces, classrooms, and a management office. Their aim is to become a nucleus for cross-cultural dialogues by hosting various artistic and cultural events.
