About Ontario Animal Health Network
The Ontario Animal Health Network (OAHN) is a dedicated organization focused on disease surveillance and early detection in animal populations. With a mission to coordinate preparedness, early detection, and response to animal diseases, OAHN aims to instill public trust and confidence in Ontario's collaborative animal health network. OAHN achieves this through regular communication with veterinarians across the province, collecting valuable information on prevalent diseases and sharing essential health updates.
Each species sector has an expert network, consisting of veterinarians from various backgrounds, including private practice, academia, and government agencies. These experts meet quarterly to analyze lab data, review clinical observations, and discuss animal health implications and actionable items for the industry. By creating reports, infographics, podcasts, and fact-sheets summarizing disease risks and observations, OAHN ensures that veterinarians have access to up-to-date information for informed diagnostic and treatment decisions.
OAHN also initiates research projects to investigate disease trends and provides outbreak risk assessments and crucial alerts during outbreaks. Through their diligent efforts, OAHN continues to play a crucial role in safeguarding animal health in Ontario
