OATA (Overseas Agro Traders Association) was formed to represent the collective interests of Foreign owned Agro Trading Companies having a base in Myanmar for buying, selling and shipping of Beans & Pulses, Yellow Maize, Rice and other tertiary agricultural commodities produced in Myanmar. The members of the group are well known, respected MNC’s and smaller highly specialized setups which cumulatively accounts for a very large percent of the total exports of these products from Myanmar. The group actively partcipates in regular meet with the Local Chamber of Commerce and Ministries in Myanmar connected with Agro -Trade and Investment. It has international linkages through various MOU’s such as the ones with the Global Pulses Council (GPC) and the Indian Pulses & Grains Association (IPGA). OATA acts as a mediator, if necessary, for issues related to performance of contracts by suppliers and other stake holders. The Association has a well experienced Executive Committee of seasoned trade professionals and periodic member meetings are held to discuss day to day issues of logistics, new policies enacted by countries, periodical procedural notifications issued by any governmental body that may affect trade flow and finding logical solution for its members. With the knowledge and experience of its members, OATA members are regularly invited as speakers at various international forums conferences where their views are actively sought for by trading communities & Govt Agencies that are actively engaged in forecasting and policy making.
