About Obersalzberg
Dokumentation Obersalzberg | Berchtesgaden is a brand that offers a unique opportunity to explore the history of the Obersalzberg and the National Socialist regime. Established in 1999 at the historical site of Hitler's former vacation residence, this educational and memorial site is designed and supervised by the Institute of Contemporary History Munich-Berlin on behalf of the state of Bavaria. However, please note that the Dokumentation Obersalzberg is temporarily closed until the autumn of 2023 due to renovation works.
The existing exhibition building is being transformed into an educational center, while a new permanent exhibition will be set up in the expansion building. Although there have been some delays due to material shortages, the brand remains committed to providing fascinating insights into the Obersalzberg's history through their social media channels. Additionally, visitors can embark on a virtual 360-degree tour of the previous permanent exhibition, which attracted nearly 3.
