About OBMEP
The Brazilian Mathematics Olympiad for Public Schools (OBMEP) is a nationwide initiative aimed at fostering mathematical skills among students in Brazilian public and private schools. Organized by the Institute of Pure and Applied Mathematics (IMPA) with the support of the Brazilian Mathematics Society (SBM), OBMEP is funded by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations, and Communications (MCTIC).
OBMEP caters to students from the 6th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of high school, offering a range of educational programs and resources. The Olympiad includes competitions, with awards presented at national and regional ceremonies, highlighting outstanding achievements in mathematics. The program also offers supplemental educational materials such as textbooks, exercise banks, and video lessons through its online portal, enhancing the curriculum for students.
OBMEP encourages scientific curiosity and academic excellence through its various initiatives, including the Junior Scientific Initiation Program and intensive training poles, thereby nurturing the next generation of scientists and mathematicians.
