Observatório de Segurança Pública

OSP, the Observatory of Public Security and Community Relations, is an academic research and knowledge-sharing initiative based at São Paulo State University (UNESP), with contact details in Marília, São Paulo. It focuses on public security, violence, human rights, policing, criminal organizations, surveillance, and community relations, with particular attention to contemporary Brazil and the state of São Paulo. The observatory brings together researchers and study groups, including GESP and FERES, and hosts LAREVI, a research laboratory studying virtualized realities.

Its website makes research and analysis accessible through articles, reports, interviews, podcasts, database resources, posts, and event materials, including seminar proceedings. Topics featured include the PCC, criminal governance, violence, football supporter groups, and the social effects of security practices. The site also highlights researchers’ publications and contributions to media coverage, and provides links to recommended resources.

OSP serves as a platform for academic discussion and public information rather than presenting commercial products or services, connecting scholarship on security with wider debates about society, politics, and community life
