Oceana Canada

Oceana Canada is an independent charity dedicated to restoring Canadian oceans so they can be healthy, rich and abundant. As part of the largest international advocacy group focused solely on ocean conservation, it works toward a mission of saving the oceans and feeding the world. The organization leads targeted campaigns that seek measurable results, using science, law, grassroots activism, advocacy and strategic communications to advance policy change.

Its work focuses on protecting marine habitats and wildlife, reducing plastic pollution, rebuilding sustainable fisheries and restoring abundant fish populations. Current priorities include safeguarding forage fish such as capelin, herring, mackerel and sardines; protecting North Atlantic right whales and marine habitats; and supporting recovery of capelin and other fish stocks. Oceana Canada also researches and reports on ocean issues, including the condition of Canada’s fisheries, and shares educational resources about marine life and conservation.

The charity invites the public to take part through petitions, advocacy actions, community updates and donations.
