Ocean Heroes is a South African surf and ocean sports series celebrating skilled watermen and action-packed competition on the country’s beaches. Its Oceanman races combine surfski paddling, swimming, Malibu board paddling and running transitions, demanding endurance, skill and character from participants. The series began in 2014 at Umhlanga Main Beach and has since featured extreme athletes competing in challenging surf conditions.
Alongside its sporting focus, Ocean Heroes highlights environmental ambassadorship and swimming, connecting ocean competition with awareness of the marine environment and water skills. The programme offers race events and opportunities for participants to enter, with event information and media updates available through its website. One listed event is scheduled for Sunday, 1 December 2024, at Dairy Beach in Durban.
The organisation also acknowledges supporters of the Ocean Heroes Ocean Series and connects with its community through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube. Through its events, Ocean Heroes brings together surf action, endurance sport and a commitment to the ocean, giving athletes a platform to test their abilities in South Africa’s coastal waters
