Indonesia Ocean Justice Initiative (IOJI) is an influential independent think-tank and policy advocacy institution that supports Indonesia, the world's largest archipelagic country, in achieving effective governance of the oceans based on principles of effective protection, sustainable utilization, and just well-being. IOJI collaborates with both state and non-state actors to influence decision-making processes at national, regional, and international levels by providing evidence-based policy proposals. Additionally, IOJI provides support and empowerment to communities whose livelihoods depend on the ocean, such as small-scale fishermen, coastal communities, and migrant workers in the fishing industry, to defend and fight for their basic rights.

IOJI aims to support the Indonesian government in prioritizing, implementing, and enforcing sustainable and just marine governance at local, national, regional, and international levels. They also aim to strengthen collaboration between government, academia, and civil society to develop sustainable marine practices, including achieving various goals within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, IOJI works in partnership with law enforcement agencies at national, regional, and global levels in relation to maritime and transnational organized crimes, including illegal fishing, human trafficking, modern slavery, and more.
