About Oceans Alive Foundation
Oceans Alive Trust is an action-based organization dedicated to supporting coastal communities in Kenya in setting up and effectively managing Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). Our integrated approach to the sustainable management of marine resources involves collaboration with key stakeholders, including the coastal communities, under a co-management plan. We have successfully implemented the first Co-Managed Area Plan in Kenya, placing 150 sq km under community-led management.
We work closely with coastal communities to develop and share sustainable solutions that have a positive impact on livelihoods along the Kenyan coast. Our efforts have led to significant environmental improvements, such as a 30% recovery in corals, a 17% restoration of seagrass, and a 400% increase in biomass in the Kuruwitu Community Conservation Area. Oceans Alive Trust is committed to expanding our support to inspire coastal conservation across the Kenyan coast.
Through partnerships with organizations in various sectors, we strive to increase our impact on the environment and the communities we operate in. Join us in protecting marine life and conserving biodiversity on the Kenyan coast. Become a partner, donate, or volunteer to support our mission.
