About OceanTeacher Global Academy
OceanTeacher Global Academy is an endorsed action under the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. As a comprehensive internet-based training platform, the OceanTeacher Global Academy aims to build equitable capacity related to ocean research, observations, and services in all IOC Member States. They achieve this by delivering training courses on a range of topics that address the priority areas of the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development and the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs.
These courses also support the implementation of the IOC Capacity Development Strategy. The academy offers various course topics, including research data management, marine biodiversity data management, marine spatial planning, marine and coastal ecosystems, disaster risk reduction, international sea law, ocean acidification, and marine pollution. Additionally, the academy has established a global network of Regional and Specialised Training Centres (RTCs & STCs) to provide customized training for ocean experts and professionals, increasing national and regional capacity in coastal and marine sciences, services, and management
