Odense Karate-do Ichiro is a traditional Shotokan karate club based in Odense, Denmark. Founded in 1959, it is one of the country’s oldest karate clubs and is affiliated with JKA Danmark. The club welcomes children, young people, and adults, with training open to people of all ages and physical abilities.
Its instruction covers core Shotokan practice, including kihon (basics), stances, blocks, strikes, kicks, kata, and kumite. Members can also take part in tournaments and events, and the club hosts a range of competitive fighters. Its approach is guided by the dojo kun: seeking personal improvement, being faithful and diligent, respecting others, and avoiding violent conduct.
Alongside developing physical and mental strength, the club values mutual respect and a strong community, including social activities beyond training. Newcomers are invited to try a free session and speak with an instructor. Odense Karate-do Ichiro trains at Thorslundsvej 2B in Odense and is part of Odense Sportscentrum.
It also promotes HCA Karate Open, an international tournament featuring Shotokan kata and shobu ippon kumite
