The Ökologisches Bildungszentrum München (ÖBZ) is a centre for environmental education and education for sustainable development in Munich. Operated by Münchner Umwelt-Zentrum e.V. and Münchner Volkshochschule, it welcomes children, young people, families and adults to learn, explore nature and develop ideas for a sustainable future. Its distinctive outdoor learning site spans 6.5 hectares and includes a nature play area, habitats, gardens and educational trails.
The ÖBZ offers a varied programme of events and courses, including nature activities for children and families, sustainability courses for adults, school and kindergarten visits, children’s birthday celebrations, professional development and networking events. Its learning themes include biodiversity, living with nature, sustainable food, creative activities, global responsibility, resources and mindful cooperation. The centre also provides consulting on education for sustainable development, including educational approaches, whole-institution sustainability and nature experience spaces.
Projects, exhibitions and learning resources extend the centre’s work beyond its courses. These include videos, educational materials, recipe booklets and garden calendars.
