About OECD ️ Better Policies for Better Lives
Life Index allows you to visualize and compare key factors that contribute to well-being in OECD countries. It's an interactive tool that lets you see how countries perform in 11 different topics, such as education, housing, environment, and more. You can download the executive summary and index data for further analysis.
The Better Life Index aims to involve citizens in the debate on measuring well-being and empower them to become more informed and engaged in shaping policies. The 11 topics were chosen based on their importance to well-being, including material living conditions and quality of life. Each topic is built on specific indicators, and you can compare results for men and women to see how social and economic status affects well-being.
The Index covers 38 countries, including OECD members and a few emerging economies. There are no assigned rankings, allowing you to customize your own Index based on the importance you give to each topic. By comparing your Index with others, you can contribute to the global conversation on what makes for a better life
