About Österreichischer Cartellverband
Welcome to ÖCV, the Austrian Cartellverband! We are a union of 50 Catholic, color-wearing student associations in Austria, consisting of 13,000 students and academics. At ÖCV, we prioritize four principles: Religion, Science, Homeland, and Lifelong Friendship. In today's world, where the freedom of science is under threat, we are committed to safeguarding this freedom.
We also recognize and celebrate outstanding academic achievements through the ÖCV Scientia Fonds Gala, held annually in Vienna. Moreover, we honor distinguished individuals within our community, as seen by the recent awarding of the prestigious "Wollek-Band" to Dr. Anton Zeilinger, the first Nobel laureate from our ranks.
In addition to these events, we commemorate special occasions such as the 100th birthday of Dr. Wolfgang Schmitz, a former Finance Minister and National Bank President.
