The OFM website focuses on the Ostfriesian milk sheep and its breeding and preservation in Switzerland. The OFM, or association for the Ostfriesian milk sheep, maintained a herdbook and shared information about sheep breeding and husbandry. Its subject matter also includes milk sheep products, alongside photographs of adult sheep and lambs.
The site is now continued privately by Margrit Gähler after the association was dissolved. Gähler and Franz Bilger kept a small number of Ostfriesian milk sheep for self-sufficiency at their home in Wuppenau, Switzerland, from 1984 to 2014. They also managed the OFM herdbook for 14 years, and Gähler created the association’s website. She now maintains selected parts of that material as a private website, preserving information and images related to the breed and its care. The site provides a personal and historical resource for people interested in Ostfriesian milk sheep in Switzerland, including their breeding, keeping, and products. It also offers contact and legal information.
