Ohana Dental is a Catalan non-governmental organization dedicated to providing dental services to disadvantaged communities in different territories. Its guiding aim is to “spread smiles around the world,” combining international projects with local care for vulnerable groups in Catalonia. Ohana began in 2009 with an international project in Senegal and expanded its local work in the surrounding area.
Since then, its initiatives have included projects in countries such as Uganda, Greece, Argentina, Malawi, Rwanda, Cameroon and Ghana, as well as social services in Polinyà and support for Sahrawi children. The organization presents its work as a family effort and invites people to join and collaborate. Its website shares information about current and completed projects, partners, press coverage and recognition.
Based in Polinyà, Ohana connects dental care with community support, bringing services to people who may face barriers to accessing them. Through its local and international activities, the organization works toward its stated purpose of creating more smiles
