Ohio Pawpaw Festival is a vibrant brand that hosts a lively and educational community event celebrating the pawpaw, one of America's largest native tree fruits. Taking place in Lake Snowden, Albany, Ohio from September 15-17, 2023, this all-weekend festival showcases the rich history and future possibilities of the pawpaw. Attendees can indulge in delectable food and beverages, while enjoying a wide range of presentations and activities that cover various pawpaw-related topics such as growing, cooking, genetics, and medical use.
The festival features exciting events including competitions for the best and biggest pawpaw, a cook-off, art showcase, and the much-anticipated pawpaw-eating contest. The pawpaw fruit itself is known for its creamy texture and tropical flavor, and Southern Ohio is home to some of the largest and most flavorful wild pawpaw patches in the world. In addition to celebrating the pawpaw, Ohio Pawpaw Festival is committed to sustainability and zero waste.
Partnering with Rural Action, they strive to divert all waste from landfills by providing resource recovery stations throughout the festival grounds. With the support of dedicated volunteers and the use of compostable service ware, the festival aims to be both environmentally conscious and enjoyable for all attendees. Join the Pawpaw movement and be a part of this groovy, green fruit celebration.
