About OIDP
The International Observatory on Participatory Democracy (IOPD) is a global platform for cities, associations, organizations, and research centers to share and apply experiences of participatory democracy at the local level. With a mission to deepen the roots of democracy in municipal government, the IOPD offers a space for learning and exchanging ideas. Through conferences, awards, and publications, the IOPD promotes the strengthening of participatory democracy and addresses global challenges.
Recent initiatives include the Rio de Janeiro Declaration, which drives measures to strengthen participatory democracy, and the recognition of Rennes for its European Citizens' Initiative in support of migrants. From promoting citizenship from childhood to youth in Puente Genil to integrating culture into resilient cities in Ramallah, the IOPD showcases diverse experiences.
