Oiseaux.net is a volunteer-maintained ornithological portal created to describe and illustrate bird species from around the world. Its contributors include both ornithologists and other volunteers, and the site aims to make its documentation freely accessible without advertising. Resources are designed for everyone, from beginners to experienced birdwatchers, and support learning how to recognize birds in the field, distinguish similar species, identify their calls and explore their behavior through the seasons.

The portal offers detailed species profiles, photographs, recordings of bird calls and songs, and educational articles on identification and ornithology. Visitors can browse birds of France, Europe and the world, view photo galleries, and use an identification tool based on region, size and other criteria. An artificial intelligence feature can identify European species from photographs, while a community forum provides a place to seek help with uncertain observations. Oiseaux.net also features quizzes and other bird-themed games, a glossary, a directory, book recommendations and practical information, including guidance on helping birds. Donations support the site’s continued free, advertising-free access.
